I'm sure we have some Landscapes with-in Aperture that would be worth entering for this
http://www.take-a-view.co.uk/
I went to the finals exhibition last year and it was fantastic. I have a book of all the winning entries if anyone would like to see it let me know.
The entries are really varied ( some examples are shown on the website link )

Innocent photographer or terrorist?
Interesting article here on the BBC news website relating to Stu's recent post about talking photos in a public place and your rights.

Photoshop/Elements workshop
Next Tuesday we have another workshop, if you can please bring along a laptop with Photoshop or Elements installed.

Layers trick for Elements users.
Unlike the full version of Photoshop, Elements doesn't have layer masks but there is a work around that achieves the same results. Give this a go but please let me know if it doesn't make sense I'm happy to go through it on Tuesday.

What this will do is blend parts of one image into another.

1) Open an image. This is your Background image (the bottom layer).

2) Create a new adjustment layer above the Background. You can use any adjustment layer, 'Levels' is fine. Don't change any of the Levels settings just click OK.

3) Open a second image

4) With the 'Move' tool, drag the new image onto your first image, It will appear as a new layer (Layer 1) above the adjustment layer.

5) make sure this new layer is active by clicking on it

6) Top menu/layer/ 'Group with previous'

7) you should now have a layers pallet that looks similar to the example jpeg below.

8) Click on the adjustment layer's 'layer mask thumbnail', an outline appears to tell you this is now the active layer.

9) The trick now is - with the 'layer mask thumbnail', active - to paint with a black brush on the image, the top layer will be erased revealing the background layer. Painting with WHITE will reverse this and the erased areas of the top layer will reappear.

The advantage to this is that the changes you make are non-destructive and reversible at a later time, just remember to save as a PSD file to retain all the layer settings.
